We were asked to create an iPad app to teach nurses how to inject a certain drug. We raised the bet by offering to create an actual physical electronic syringe for the nurses to interact with. They loved the idea!
We built a custom-made syringe that was connected to the big screen and allowed us to measure the angle of injection (syringe rotation), the speed of injection (plunger), as well as use it as a stylus on the iPad.
On top of that, we built a 1 vs 1 challenge that was a step by step on how to inject the drug: select the right needle, load the syringe by pulling the plunger, choose the appropriate body part, inject at the correct angle, and inject at the correct speed.
The challenge also had a leaderboard so all nurses could compete and reach the top throughout the show.
- Measure plunger speed
- Accurately reflect syringe on the screen
- Build it on a small syringe-shaped prop
